Clark’s Story
Clark’s Outpost was founded in 1974 by the late Warren Clark in Tioga, Texas, the birthplace of the legendary singing cowboy Gene Autry. Warren had a vision for true country BBQ and brought that vision to life. It was his belief, and now ours, that for the meat to taste its best, a carefully crafted slow-smoke process had to be adopted, allowing ribs to smoke for 8 hours while briskets gently smoked for days. This rare technique is still at the core of Clark’s Outpost.
A fire destroyed much of Clark’s Outpost in January of 2016. Clark’s re-opened in 2017, with an even cozier and more inviting smokehouse, perfect for casual dinner out or a quick (and delicious) lunch.
Our passion is to ensure our customers experience the finest in BBQ, consistently. Over the years we’ve been fortunate to be highly rated by our customers and experts in the food industry, including Zagat, Travel & Leisure, and Texas Highways Magazine. These accolades have set the bar high, ensuring we maintain our tradition of excellence.
Today, Clark’s Outpost is run with the very same enthusiasm as in 1974, with a tradition of outstanding food and a friendly staff.
We invite you to visit us and experience the very best in BBQ, in an atmosphere that makes you feel at home.
